Community

Physical Folk run a variety of events, classes and workshops to engage local communities; from story telling for children to community productions. Our work is mainly based in Manchester and Cheshire. Take a look below at what we've been up to and go to our Calendar to find out when you can next get involved!

Playhouse Creatures by April de Angelis

November 2012

Physical Folk worked alongside Tin Shed theatre in this community production about the first actresses on the stage. Written by April de Angelis, Playhouse Creatures follows Nell Gwyn and her comtempories as they explore the highs and lows of being the first women to tread the boards.

Act, Laugh, Move! An Improvisation Class for Adults.

Monthly, Davenham Players' Theatre, £5, 7-9pm.

An exploration in to the actors toolkit.
A couple of hours in the evening to have a go, have a laugh, and then have a drink.

No lines to learn, no sequences to memorise and no paying audience to be nervous about.
The first half will be an informal 'acting class' exploring how we work together, how we sound and how we move.
Then those skills will be tried out and played around with culminating in a few playful script readings or improvisations.

Ages 16 to 100+ and ALL experience levels from 'always been too nervous or busy to try' to 'I love giving things ago'.

Everyone is invited/encouraged to have a drink afterwards and it should still be early enough to be home for the family or hit the town.
